Construction crews placed the final structural beam on Saint Luke’s East Hospital’s $52 million expansion project last week, completing the building’s framework.

Saint Luke’s East Hospital staff, leadership, and construction team leads celebrated the 62,000-square-foot addition to the hospital campus with a topping out ceremony and signed the beam. The significant addition and expansion will help bring more advanced services to the community.

Once complete, the expansion will include new locations for Rockhill Orthopaedic Specialists, women’s health, ENT, general surgery, pulmonary, and plastic surgery.

A topping out ceremony is an age-old tradition in which the last beam is placed on a project. Employees had an opportunity to celebrate this milestone by signing the final structural beam before it was raised into place.
