Keith was born near Ballard, MO on November 18th, 1932, and lived with his parents Edna Crithfield Dixon and Ernest Dixon until their tragic passing when Keith was 15 years old. He lived with a local family after his parents’ death and graduated from Archie High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and served two years. He married Evelyn Griffith Dixon November 21, 1953.   They moved to Lee’s Summit, MO where Keith began his career as carpenter.

Keith soon mastered carpentry and started his career as a custom home builder. He built many homes in the Lee’s Summit area over his 40-year career, including his own home, where he and Evelyn raised their two sons.   Keith loved his church. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit. Keith served as a Deacon for over 60 years, a Sunday School Department Director, and as Chairman of the Building Committee for the church sanctuary.

Although he worked hard to nurture his business, Keith enjoyed caring for his lawn and always kept it immaculate.   In his free time, Keith enjoyed traveling to Colorado with his family.   He traveled to several National Parks, as well as Texas, California, Arizona and Washington, D.C. on vacations. In retirement he visited Hawaii, United Kingdom, and Taiwan.  He was a passionate fan of the University of Missouri Tigers sports teams. He had football season tickets for many years and never missed a game on TV after he gave up his tickets.

The family wishes to thank the caring members and staff of First Baptist Church Lee’s Summit for giving Keith joy and contentment throughout his adult life.  Also, the family is thankful for the wonderful physicians and nurses at St. Luke’s-Plaza and the compassionate staff at KC Hospice House who cared for him in his final illness.
