
Lenard Eugene Lang, known as “Gene” a lifelong resident of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. Gene, who endured his last 16 years totally blind was 102 years old. Graveside service will be held at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E. US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64086, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend. Gene Lang—A World War II Army Veteran, loved his family, life, church, and country. The family is asking that in place of flowers to donate to their favorite charity, or the “Wounded Warrior Project”.
Gene was born January 3, 1923, in Oak Grove, Missouri, son of Earnest and Alice Lang. Gene was number three of six children, and all were born on the family’s sixty-acre farm located near Tarsney Buckner Rd. and Colburn Rd.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Alice Lang, his wife Margaret Eileen Lang at age 63, a son Phillip Gregory Lang (Cindy), brothers Bill Lang and Herman Lang, and sisters Virginia Alley, Leona “Sis” Reinking, and Genieve Beckner. Gene is survived by two sons: Larry Eugene Lang (Linda) of Leawood, Kansas, and Donald Leon Lang (Susan) of Overland Park, Kansas. There are eight grandchildren: Michael Lang of Olathe, Kansas, Angela Lang Mendenhall of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Lindsey Lang Watkins of United Kingdom, Kandi Krebs of Columbia, South Carolina, Douglas Lang of Leawood, Kansas, Ashley Lang Hansen of Newell, Iowa, Christopher Lang of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Heather McCullar of Columbia, Missouri, and ten great- grandchildren: Jackson Watkins and Hazel Watkins, Kaden Mendenhall, Madison McCullar and Taylor McCullar, Aria Lang, Emery Hansen, Aaryn Krebs, Gracelyn Lang and Aniston Lang, and many nieces and nephews.
