Marilyn Bosso, 95, passed away on 04/22/2025 in Springfield, Missouri.

Marilyn was born September 1st, 1929 in Eldon (Miller County), Missouri to Dorsey and Ruth (McCommons) Barron.

Marilyn spent all her school years in Tuscumbia (Miller County) Missouri. She graduated from Tuscumbia High School in 1947 as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Christian College (Columbia Missouri) in 1949 with an A.B. in Home Economics. Furthering her education, she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she received her B.S. in Home Economics in 1951. Marilyn went on to serve as the Scruggs Vandervoot-Barney food service manager in St. Louis, Missouri from 1951-53.

In 1952 Marilyn was married to Louis A. Bosso II. In 1955 they moved to the Kansas City, Missouri area. They made their home in Raytown, MO where she raised her three children Daniel, David and Lisa.

In 1969 Marilyn started working for the Independence, Missouri Public Schools as the food service director. She attended Central Missouri State University in 1975 where she received her M.S. in Home Economics.

In 2002 Louis and Marilyn moved to Lee’s Summit, MO and were active in that community. Marilyn was very active throughout her life; she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, the American Association of University Women, the PEO-IY Chapter, and served numerous positions in various organizations, including elected positions for the University of Missouri Jackson County Extension. She was a member of the local, state, and national Food Service Association, where she likewise served various offices and did seminars for all levels of food services, as well as food brokers.

Marilyn had many hobbies including bridge, cooking, gardening, sewing, crafting, golf, and enjoying the company of her many friends. However, Marilyn’s greatest joy was always her children, for whom she gave all her love, support and guidance.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years; Louis passed away on March 30th, 2024. She is survived her children Daniel (Melissa), David, and Lisa (Rick) Houston; grandchildren Sarah, Lauren, Meredith, Trevor, Grace, and Miles; and great-grandchildren Zoey and Tyler. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Roger and Carolyn Prock; their children John and Jennifer; as well as several great nephews and a niece.

Marilyn was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes church in Raytown and Our Lady of Presentation church in Lee’s Summit.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life for Marilyn at a later date.
