Paula, born on June 14, 1958, to Paul and Mary (Doran) Wood, she grew up in Lee’s Summit, MO. She was a proud graduate of Lee’s Summit High School, where she was part of the Class of 1976. She spent several years in Colorado with her son, Brian, before returning to her roots in Lee’s Summit. Throughout her career, Paula dedicated herself to public service as an administrator for FEMA within the emergency management sector, where she made a significant impact on her community.
A member of Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit, Paula found joy in her faith and the love of her Christianity. She had a zest for life that was contagious; she was known for her infectious enthusiasm and her passion for adventure. Whether it was a sunny day at the beach, a trip to the casinos to enjoy her favorite slot machines, or simply spending time with friends, Paula lived life to the fullest.
Paula also cherished her time spent outdoors, especially on the water, where she felt most at home—be it a tranquil lake or a lively ocean shore. She was always the life of the party, eager to celebrate and create joyful memories with those around her. Her little dog, Lucy, brought her immense joy, and she honored the loving memories of her late companion, Duke, who had been her faithful friend for 18 years. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, and the importance of good times shared with family and friends.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Randy Wood. She is survived by her loving son, Brian (Marsha) Wood; her two brothers, Gary (Margaret) Wood and David (Kathy) Wood; and her cherished grandchildren, Grace Wood and Brody Wood.
