Whether they are in the classroom or in athletic competition, Summit Christian Academy’s students strive for excellence in all they do. This past school year was no exception as SCA athletes were recognized at the highest academic level by MSHSAA.

During the 2015-16 schoolyear, all 19 of SCA’s junior varsity and varsity athletic teams received the MSHSAA Scholastic Achievement Award at the Outstanding level. “Outstanding” is the highest level offered by MSHSAA. To be eligible, a team must have earned an average GPA of 3.25 during their season of competition. The average GPA for SCA high school athletic teams during their season of competition this year was 3.74.

High school principal Emir Ruiz-Esparza recognizes the importance of this accomplishment. “As a school, we place a high value on academic excellence. It’s great to see our coaches and our student-athletes living out this espoused value in a very tangible way!”

SCA hopes to inspire students to reach a standard of excellence as well as encourage students to achieve their individual best. SCA currently offers 13 different athletic programs; of those 13, individuals or teams from six programs competed at the state level this past year.
