I would be honored to have your support and vote for District 4’s Two-Year term on the Lee’s Summit City Council. I am running to serve and to give City Council a fresh perspective, ensuring that Lee’s Summit will continue to be the great community that it is today and 25 years from now.

In order to do this, the City Council has to support three key areas that make Lee’s Summit a great place to be: quality public schools, an adequately-funded and supported police and fire department and supporting business opportunities, both small and large.

Lee’s Summit is the only community that my family has known. My spouse, Jessica Crawford, and I purchased our first (and second) home here in Lee’s Summit. We have raised our growing family of three children in Lee’s Summit. My spouse is a teacher and the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Lee’s Summit High School. We truly are invested in this community. I hope to be able to serve the community on the City Council to ensure that Lee’s Summit continues to be a great place.

The City can achieve these goals by supporting policies that create an environment for our public schools to operate effectively. Support for the school district also comes in the form of an adequately funded police and fire department. Without the means in which to keep this community safe, the school district’s mission becomes more difficult. The next City Council must ensure that our police and fire departments are adequately funded and if elected, I would make it a goal to ensure that this happens. Coming from a family where my uncle was a former fire chief in small-town Oklahoma, I understand the importance of supporting public safety. These men and women are vital to the community and they must be treated as such.

Additionally, the City must support policies that create a responsible budget and that increase our tax base. In an era where sales tax revenues are decreasing, the City must find new ways to both increase revenue and lower operating expenses. These policies ensure that the City has adequate funding to support all that the City does, its residents and all the city staff.

If I were elected I would look to creating a more cohesive and functioning City Council. A City Council that works well and respects another is only beneficial for Lee’s Summit. My fresh perspective and knowledge as a litigation and transaction attorney would assist in creating this well-functioning and cohesive environment on the City Council.
