I want to represent the 3rd District and the City of Lee’s Summit for a second term. As a 30 year resident and business owner, I know this is a fabulous city. I see Lee’s Summit as a place that offers a first class quality of life, top education, great development, and cultural opportunity.

I am an experienced local and regional leader. As a Rockhurst MBA, I know how to apply metrics and analytics to help solve the city’s future financial challenges. I do not favor handouts but consistently encourage sensible development. Because of my first term performance, and executive experience, I was supported by the Kansas City Homebuilders Association and I was endorsed by the Lee’s Summit Police Officers Association and the local International Association of Firefighters.

In my 1st term I served on the: Finance and Budget, Public Works, Community and Economic Community Development, and the Rules Committee. I was also Liaison for the Housing Authority, the Health Education Commission, and Lee’s Summit Cares. During that time, I met with constituents, staff, Lee’s Summit area educators, developers, and investors by attending over 100 community and stakeholder meetings each year. I promptly replied to calls and letters on a range of issues. My listening skills allowed me to be proactive and effective. I want to apply my first term experience to continue making Lee’s Summit a quality community.

I served on Planning Commission, Chair of Lee’s Summit Chamber, President of Lee’s Summit Rotary Club, and President of Lee’s Summit Education Foundation. I have served on 3 Hospital Advisory Boards, United Way Board of Directors, EDC Advisory Board, and a local Bank Board. I also served on St Luke’s Boo-Ball Committee and was chair of the Holly Festival. I have worked with both R-7 and R- 4 school districts. I received many regional and state awards. I also received the Lee’s Summit Life Time Achievement Award. I also received the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Award in Health Sciences.

I am a strong supporter of public safety. I voted to bring an additional ambulance to the Fire Department to allow better coverage for all residents. I also helped obtain new revenue for the Fire Department by supporting an updated ambulance billing process. I appreciate the Fire and Police Department’s nationally recognized reputation and I understand the importance of expanding these departments to meet the needs of a growing city. I also recognize the importance of hiring and retaining the best Fire and Police Department candidates so that citizens continue to receive the top level service they expect.

The Council needs to address compensation for all city staff. Infrastructure issues also need to be addressed. During my first term I identified goals for the city and found ways to achieve them by building consensus among fellow councilmembers. At the end of the day its’ about people not politics and about cooperation not confrontation. I don’t have a personal agenda. My constituents and the City are my only priority.
