To the Citizens of Lee’s Summit,
As I prepare to leave office, I convey my heartfelt appreciation for allowing me to serve as the Mayor of Lee’s Summit these past eight years.

Reflecting on what has been achieved by our community over the last 25 years, I am proud of all that has been accomplished. Lee’s Summit is the sixth largest city in Missouri both in geographic area and population. Our city is the envy of a number of communities in the State and is a regional and state resource on how to make a city progress. I am aware you have many excellent options in choosing where you live and raise a family; I hope you are also proud of your community.

I often refer to my involvement as Mayor, as “leaving my fingerprints” on our city. In reality, it was you, the residents that have made Lee’s Summit what it is today. The supportive attitudes of our residents have permeated throughout our community and been recognized by various leaders stepping up to fulfill their elected roles. For that I extend my deep gratitude.

Is there more to be done? Of course. Serving as an elected official is not an easy task especially with ongoing challenges of balancing community needs with limited financial resources. Sometimes the answers are obvious, sometimes they are more of a challenge. So as the saying goes “more to follow.”

Again, thank you for the honor to have served on the original Charter Commission, District 2 councilmember for 12 years, and the Mayor for eight years. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to have served you and I extend to you my best wishes in the future.

Yours Truly,
Randall Rhoads
Mayor
