The law firm of Chinnery Evans & Nail is continuing to grow after more than fifty years in business in Lee’s Summit. What was once Carl Chinnery’s one-man office in 1967, located in the city’s downtown, has become a six-attorney practice active in the community and the Kansas City metro area.

The attorneys of Chinnery Evans & Nail practice in the areas of business law, estate planning and probate, real estate law. They provide litigation services in support of those areas of law. Their newest attorney, Casey Crawford, joined the firm earlier this year. He joins attorneys Nancy Blackwell (27 years’ experience), Molly Nail (22 years), Gayle Evans (40 years), and Andrew Felker, the newest partner (8 years). The firm has nine other staff members serving as paralegals and legal assistants, including two who have worked with the firm for over twenty years.

The firm strives to support the Lee’s Summit community and its local organizations and causes, including the John Knox Village Foundation Board, Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation, Lee’s Summit R-VII School District, Powell Gardens, ReDiscover, Lee’s Summit CARES, Knights of Columbus, Lee’s Summit Rotary, Lee’s Summit Optimists, and Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce. Attorneys with the firm provide adult education classes at Metropolitan Community College each year and also give educational presentations for community organizations.

Chinnery served as a district governor of Rotary International for two years and has spoken to many groups about his experience as a survivor of polio as a child. In 2016, The Carl L. Chinnery Nature Trail, a 3.56-mile walking trail opened in his honor at Unity Village.

The firm moved from downtown Lee’s Summit to the Chapel Ridge Business Park in 2007.
