The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to their 29th annual Oktoberfest, which will be held on the streets of downtown Lee’s Summit on September 28 and 29, with the carnival remaining open on September 30.

The hours of the festival are:
• 5-11 p.m. Friday, September 28
• 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, September 29
• Noon-4 p.m. Sunday, September 30 (carnival only – west side of the tracks)

The festival takes place on Third Street from Market to Green streets, as well as on SW Main, SE Main, Douglas and Green streets between Second and Fourth streets. Approximately 70,000 people are expected to visit the historic downtown during the event.

Be aware of the gradual street closures that will be taking place as preparations are made for the event. See the map with color-coded street closures, which are as listed:

6 a.m. Wednesday, September 26:

• SW Main Street from Second to Fourth, leaving the intersection of Third open, to allow for carnival set-up

2 p.m. Wednesday, September 26:

• SE Main Street from Second to the Depot entrance for Biergarten tent set-up

(Please note: in order to prevent semi-trucks from turning onto SE Main and getting stuck, a single “No Thru Traffic” barricade will be placed in the east lane of SE Main at the intersection of Third; however, the street will remain open for customers and merchants)

6 p.m. Wednesday, September 26:

• Third Street from Market to just east of the railroad tracks

• History Museum parking lot from the back alley entrance
2 p.m. Thursday, September 27:

• SE Main Street from the Depot entrance to north of the Equity Bank drive-thru to allow for additional tent set-up and construction of the Community Stage

• Third Street from east of SE Main west to existing barricades

6 a.m. Friday, September 28:

• Third Street from Johnson Street west to existing barricades (second barricade placed at Third and Green streets)

• North alley between Douglas and SE Main barricaded at Third Street with cones south of the public parking lot entrances (access to these parking lots will be allowed from Second Street)

• South alley between Douglas and SE Main barricaded at Third Street with cones just north of Equity Bank drive-through exit

• Douglas Street from the Fire Department to Fourth Street

• North alley between Green and Douglas barricaded at Third (access to parking lot from Second Street will be allowed)

• South alley between Green and Douglas barricaded at Third

• Green Street from south of City Hall entrance to just north of the alley south of Third

These streets will remain closed until clean-up is completed on Sunday, September 30.
