Lee’s Summit West Girls Cross Country Upsets National Caliber Field in Rochester, New York
The Lee’s Summit West Girls Cross Country team spent traveled last weekend to Rochester New York to participate in the prestigious McQuaid Invitational. The team did more than just run as the girls won the AAA seeded division which included all the large schools involved. The 54th annual meet had over 8,000 runners from 20 states and some from Canada.
LS West Girls Cross Country coach Jesse Griffin was very proud of his team’s accomplishment stating “Winning the McQuaid Invitational is one of the greatest achievements in our program’s history”. Griffin added “I am extremely proud of how our girls worked together as a team & stepped up to very tough national level caliber competition”.
The New York meet saw the Titans beat the top two teams in New York, two of the top ranked teams in California and another top team in Virginia. Liverpool out of New York finished 2nd to the Titans is currently ranked #13 in the United States. The Titans were 12 points ahead of them in the final standings.
Speaking of rankings, LS West entered the Milesplit.com Top 25 this week for the first time since 2011. LS West is the #24 ranked team in the latest weekly poll after their win in New York.
