Summit Christian Academy (SCA) recently held its annual spelling bee and several students emerged as the top spellers.

These students will advance to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) district competition on January 16 at Maranatha Christian Academy in Shawnee, KS.

Forty-eight students in grades 2nd through 8th participated in the spelling bee, 18 of whom qualified for districts. Those students continuing to districts include third grade students Jasmine Stringfellow, Olivia Prough; fourth grade students Cooper McCarty, Bella Arroyo, Kai Kim; fifth grade students Ava Castleberry, London Stucker, Karleigh Miller; sixth grade students Lucie Epema, Michael Ward; seventh grade students Anna Hammond, Sarah Woodall, Adrian Haack; and eighth grade students Katie Coats and Navi McFarland.

First place winner was eighth grade student Olivia Truesdale, second place winner was sixth grade student Abigail Shanahan, and third place winner was third grade student Leo Butler.

“I am so proud that our students have made it a priority to excel in academics and experience educational success,” said Elementary Principal Mrs. Charissa Sanders.
