This Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11 AM Longview Cemetery, (12700 S Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO), will host Wreaths Across America for the third year.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 2007 as an extension of The Arlington Wreath Project, with over 1,500 participating locations in all 50 states, and 24 national veteran cemeteries on foreign soil. What began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery has now become a national organization with over 1,500 participating locations – all focused on the mission to Remember – Honor – and Teach.

After a short ceremony that will commence at 11:00 am, volunteers will place wreaths that have been donated through the organization on the graves of veterans in the cemetery. Longview Cemetery is home to 520 Veterans and will place almost 200 wreaths this year.

“We are honored to be able to bring this very important program to South Kansas City. Each year we grow and see more sponsorships of wreaths, which reminds us that this type of ceremony helps Remember, Honor and Teach future generations.” Said Melissa Beall, General Manager of Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery.
