Congratulations to Connie Stephan, Pleasant Lea Middle School math teacher, for winning the January 2019 Learning for Life Award.

The award is presented to one employee each month and rotates between elementary certified, secondary certified and support staff. Winners are nominated by co-workers and selected by a team of employees.

In nomination forms, colleagues had this to say about Ms. Stephan:

“Connie is a positive influence on our math department. She is always happy to help out in any way she can and meets every challenge with a smile.”

“Connie’s love for her students is evident in her dedication to helping all of her students meet their potential. She works extra hours to make special things for her struggling students, and is always trying to make her class better so all the students get the best experience they can. So that all of her students can reach their potential, Connie is innovative in her instruction, meeting the needs of all kinds of learners in her room. In order for every student to feel safe in her room, Connie takes the time to build a relationship with each of her students. As a result, each student feels free to come to her for help.”

“Her patience and care for her students is inspiring to me. No matter how difficult a student is, she always gives each student her best. Connie never gives up on any student. When a student is not meeting up to expectations she is patient and calm, even nudging them along until the student is able to do what is expected without any more help.”
