Student voice and leadership are vital to the LS R-7 school district goals. Whether secondary or elementary, they honor student voice through the student advisory committees. This year they’ve launched the Lee’s Summit School District Elementary Student Advisory Council. The council is composed of three student representatives from each elementary school, grades 4th-6th, with the intent of giving students a voice in the decision-making process by representing the interests of students. The goal of the Elementary Student Advisory Council is to collectively improve the elementary schools. The first meeting was January 24th, 2019, with conversation around student voice and keynote speaker, LivBits. The next meeting will be April 4th.

The school district thanks the elementary students for participating in avenues that provide productive dialogue around topics relating to their school experience.
