Talented young people from throughout the Kansas City area are encouraged to audition for Got Talent, the metro area’s premier youth talent competition. Auditions will be April 18 at MCC-Longview Cultural Arts Center, and interested individuals may sign up at LSTalent.com.
Early-bird fee for auditions is $25 with the fee increasing to $35 after March 15. Performers selected through the audition process will be showcased at the prestigious Got Talent event, scheduled for 7 p.m. June 1 at the Lee’s Summit High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the show are $15.
Got Talent is open to young people 18 years old and under. The performers are competing for top awards as well as three scholarships, valued at $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000.
A fundraiser for Lee’s Summit CARES, Got Talent has been recognized for its outstanding performances. Several previous competition winners have launched successful careers in the fine arts area including Blair Bryant, a member of jazz band MQ5 and a nationally recognized bass player; Jordan Haas, who performed the National Anthem for the Kansas City Royals in 2015; and State Line Drive, an opening act for Tate Stevens in 2016 with a their own recently released CD.
“Got Talent is an exciting event that highlights our community’s young people while raising money for an important cause,” said Rachel Segobia, Lee’s Summit CARES director and Got Talent chairperson. “We look forward to seeing the variety of talent among our performers and know our audience will once again be amazed by the quality of talent on stage.”
The competition is open to all types of talent and provides a supportive and affirming environment for the young performers, Segobia added. A total of 20 acts will be selected during the audition process and will be featured at the June 1 show.
In its ninth year, Got Talent is the major fundraiser for Lee’s Summit CARES, a nonprofit community coalition that provides programs for youth substance use prevention, parenting and character development.
