Dr. Kari Twillegar was announced as the new Lee’s Summit High School principal at the Board of Education meeting. Dr. Twillegar will serve as the new principal starting the 2019-2020 school year. She replaces Dr. John Faulkenberry, who is retiring this year.

Dr. Twillegar served as a science teacher for ten years, spanning grades 7-12, and has served in the Adrian School District and Harrisonville School District. For the past seven years, Dr. Twillegar has served as an Assistant Principal at Lee’s Summit High School. Dr. Twillegar coordinates the Student Intervention Team, works with the Academic Services team, serves as the Professional Development Co-Chair, and leads the New Teacher Program.

Dr. Twillegar earned her Bachelor of Arts in Middle School Education from the University of Missouri (2001); her Master’s in special education from the University of Missouri (2008); and her Educational Specialist’s degree (2013) and Educational Doctorate degree from St. Louis University in Educational Leadership (2014).
