The City of Lee’s Summit is inviting the public to a Community Art Day on Aug. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lee’s Summit City Hall Plaza located at 220 SE Green St.

This free family-friendly event allows residents of all ages and abilities to create art together. Activities will include painting kindness rocks alongside members of Lee’s Summit, Mo. Rocks (LSMO Rocks) and Allyssa’s Wishes. Participants can also explore the public art located on the plaza.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to have fun making art together,” Cultural Arts Manager Glenda Masters said. “The concept of a kindness rock is that you paint small river rocks to create an inspirational token. These rocks are then hidden throughout the community in public spaces in hopes of brightening someone else’s day.”

Materials and supplies will be provided. Registration is not required though highly encouraged to ensure enough rocks and supplies are available for all attendees. Parking is available in the public parking garage located at the corner of Second Street and Green Street. Street parking is also available.
