Christion Doan is one of several students who debuted artwork at ProDeo Youth Center’s inaugural showcase, Structures, Sketches, & Strokes: The Story of Us, last Friday.

“When I was a kid, it kind of was just something I did, as most kids do when they color or scribble,” Christion says about his love for art.

These days, the Lee’s Summit North senior finds inspiration in movies or people around him. Lately, he says, he’s caught himself drawing the same people over and over again.

“That just comes with their impact toward my life,” he says. Christion sold four pieces of artwork at the showcase. The Youth Center, he says, has provided both a “friendly, inspiring and helpful environment,” as well as supplies he needs to complete his work.

“[ProDeo] is an important part of my life now,” says Christion, who started school in LSR7 this year after moving from another school district. “And I appreciate everything they’ve done for me and my artwork.”
