Children and parents deserve to be able to give and receive gifts during the holidays. Artists, crafters and customers at the Fall Harvest Holiday Art & Craft will be offering their gifts so the women and children healing from domestic abuse can feel the community support and the love of giving.

Hope House is a passion of love for Keith and Wanda Davenport, directors of the Fall Harvest Holiday Art & Craft Show. “There are so many families who need help to get out of an abusive relationship. It does my heart good to see how much love is spread through giving,” Wanda shared. Hope House provides shelter, legal assistance and therapy to assist with the healing process. During the holidays, with the help of the community, Hope House creates two Holiday Stores for the victims who live in their shelters. Women and children can shop, and wrap presents for each other, free of charge. All the brand-new gifts in the Holiday Stores are donated by individuals, schools, organizations, churches, and other local supporters.

This is the seventh year that the Fall Harvest Holiday Art & Craft Show has been collecting donations for Hope House. Keith and Wanda were honored to be given an “Everyday Hero” award at the 2019 Hope House Spring Luncheon. “We accepted this award on behalf of all the vendors and customers who also donated and provided gifts. Keith and I aren’t the heroes – it’s the entire community of caring people.”

One hundred generous artists and crafters will be at The Pavilion at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit on November 1st and 2nd with their handmade creations. This show serves two purposes: 1) provide an outlet for the artists and crafters to sell their one-of-a-kind creations that is friendly, happy, and festive, and 2) provide community support by helping Hope House break the cycle of domestic violence for families in the Kansas City area.

Visit the show on Friday, November 1st from 11am to 7pm and Saturday, November 2nd from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free, and food and beverages are available for purchase. All items donated will be on the stage at the Pavilion during the show.

The Pavilion at John Knox Village is located at 520 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
