The Lee’s Summit Chamber is excited to announce Megan Gray as the new director of special events and Taylor Smith as the new director of communications.

Megan Gray brings 10 years of event planning experience to the job. Prior to joining the Chamber she had the pleasure of planning events at Cass Regional Medical Center, Webster University and Park University. Megan is a Graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a Masters in Business Administration. She also has 15 years floral design experience with the Blue Springs Hy-Vee Floral department.

As the director of special events her main responsibilities include planning Oktoberfest, the annual Gala and the Golf Classic, as well as many other events throughout the year.

“I’m excited to be in Lee’s Summit and to make a positive impact on the community,” said Gray. “I look forward to planning events that will help continue the spirit of community that is already so strong here.”

Taylor Smith brings seven years of national and local marketing and communications experience to the organization. Prior to joining the Chamber, he managed creative marketing for Starlight Theatre and hosted the popular entertainment talk show, Talkin’ with Taylor. As Director of Communications, he will help bring the message and mission of the Chamber to the community through touchpoints of all forms.

As an active member and founder of multiple young professional organizations in the area, Taylor will provide stewardship for the Chamber’s Young Professional Committee.

“I grew up in a thriving small town in the heart of the Ozarks and have long since been looking to get back to a position that was solely focused on bettering and growing a similar community,” explained Smith “I cannot wait to offer up my talents to the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and become part of the success and sincerity of this great city!”

“Both Megan and Taylor come to us with great experience, passion and both know the hard work that goes into making an organization run successfully,” said Matt Baird, interim president of the Chamber. “We are excited to have Megan and Taylor on staff to continue strengthening the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce.”
