Lee’s Summit West art students took home the first place traveling trophy at the Ray-Pec Art Invitational last month. The program had several students placed in juried exhibition and competition categories, including:

JURIED EXHIBITION
Savannah Meyer: 1st Place Mixed Media, Gabby Reynolds: 1st Place Painting, Ainsley Beard: 1st Place Fibers, Savannah Cato: 2nd Place Ceramics, andNeilly Randall: 2nd Place mixed media

COMPETITION
Rachel Wilson: 1st place wheel thrown ceramics, Sean Sinow: 2nd place figure drawing, and Chesney Brown: 3rd place printmaking

On top of that, nine LSW students showed their artwork at the Merriam High School Visual Arts Competition. Their work was selected from more than 1,000 entries. Lee’s Summit West’s Savannah Meyer won First place in 2-D and Cassie Pierce and Savannah Cato won Honorable Mention in 3-D.

Congratulations to our art students, and to LSW art instructors Suzy Smith, Melissa Woody, Rachel Kline and Kathryn Graves.

Lee’s Summit North students, under the direction of art instructor Colby Mathews, were also honored at the Ray-Pec event.

Jaixin Lui – 2nd place Juried show- Painting, 2nd Juried show – Drawing

Annie McCord – 2nd place Juried show – Fabric art, 1st place studio Competition – Printmaking, and a $20,000 KCAI Scholarship winner.

Connor Wilson – 1st place Juried show- Printmaking
