Dan Meers has brought fun and excitement to gamedays at Arrowhead Stadium for more than three decades as KC Wolf. Away from the field, he has brought hope, encouragement and inspiration to thousands of people around the world.

A brand-new book, “Mascot on a Mission”, shares stories about the people he has met and the places he has traveled, from Haiti to India to Tanzania. The 208-page book includes 32 pages of full-color photos.

“This book is filled with stories of people I’ve met on my mascot journey who are difference-makers,” Meers said. “People who have had an impact on my life. They’re not perfect people, but they are individuals using their lives to positively influence and impact those around them.”

This is Meers’ second book. “Wolves Can’t Fly”, his first book, tells the story of his remarkable life, the accident that nearly took his life, his long recovery and the lessons God has taught him along the way.

Meers donates 100 percent of the proceeds from his books to charity. Sales of his first book alone have enabled him to contribute more than $130,000 to those who are less fortunate, and he hopes to increase that number to $200,000 this year. For example, while traveling in the Philippines, he saw a need for a water well and was able to donate funds to provide clean drinking water for an entire community. Closer to home, he helped with a drive to provide more than 27,000 rolls of toilet paper to Shelter KC (formerly Kansas City Rescue Mission).

Bobby Bell, an NFL Hall of Fame linebacker for the Chiefs, wrote the foreword.

“Dan is a man who lives his life by design and not default,” Bell said. “He doesn’t just sit back and watch life happen, but instead he is intentional about using his time, talents and platform to make a positive impact in the life of others.”

“Mascot on a Mission” can be purchased online at www.characterthatcounts.org or www.danmeers.org, or at any of his numerous area speaking engagements. Both websites also can be used to request appearances by Meers.

“Mascot on a Mission” will entertain readers and make them laugh, but most importantly, it will help them understand the difference each of us can make in the lives of others. “My prayer as I write this book is that it will somehow have a positive influence and impact on your life,” Meers said.

Dan Meers is widely known as KC Wolf, the official mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs. He travels throughout the United States and the world entertaining thousands of people both in and out of costume. Dan is in high demand not only as a mascot but also as a humorous and motivational speaker to audiences of all ages. Meers is a member of the Mascot Hall of Fame and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the NFL Mascots Summit in 2016.
