The City of Lee’s Summit is excited to announce it is again providing drop-off recycling services at the Resource Recovery Park, 2101 SE Hamblen Rd. There is no fee to utilize the service. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The recycling center accepts tin, aluminum and steel cans; No. 1 and No. 2 plastics; cardboard; paperboard; certain glass containers; newspaper; magazines; paper milk cartons; office paper; and junk mail. All containers should be rinsed before being dropped off.

The City entered into an agreement with the KC Dumpster Company to provide these services at the recycling center. The City also received a $42,189 grant from the Mid-America Regional Council Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to purchase the six roll-off containers used at the site.

“Our residents are environmentally conscious and strive to do what’s best for the community. By providing this free resource, we’ll be able to reduce the amount of waste going into landfills and conserve natural resources,” said Solid Waste Superintendent Chris Bussen. “It improves our quality of life in Lee’s Summit and ensures everyone has the ability to recycle.”
