The Board of Trustees for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School has elected Lamar Hunt, Jr. as their new Chair.
He succeeds The Honorable Thomas F. Gordon, a retired Federal Judge. Hunt, a member of the Founding Family for the Kansas City Chiefs, is also the founder of the Loretto Companies and owner of the Kansas City Mavericks and Kansas City Scouts hockey teams.
The Board also elected Lisa Ginter as Vice-Chair, CEO of CommunityAmerica Credit Union, to succeed Mark Rieger, SVP at First Federal Bank. Both have been Board members since St. Michael’s inception in 2017. Other members of the Executive Committee who are returning for another term are Blake Asjes, CPA, Director of Finance at Netsmart as Treasurer and Nancy Bass, owner of Dynamic Displays LLC, as Secretary. Both Judge Gordon and Mr. Rieger will remain on the Board.
Lamar Hunt, Jr. has significant company executive experience. He is the founder of the Loretto Companies, LLC, a real estate development company specializing in the acquisition and management of residential and commercial properties, as well as the Loretto Foundation, LLC, a private charitable organization. Lamar and his wife Rita won the 2017 Elizabeth Ann Seton Award presented by the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) to individuals whose support impacts Catholic Education and the well-being of our nation’s youth. Lamar also serves on the Board of Directors of the Bright Futures Fund. A devout Catholic himself, his leadership in faith and service will greatly impact the growth and development of SMA.
Lisa Ginter has a solid background of commitment to Catholic education. As a Legacy Alumna of SMA, she graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Rockhurst University. She’s a graduate of the Advanced Leadership Institute at Harvard Business School, and has earned the designation of Certified Chief Executive Officer (CCE) from the Credit Union Executives Society. She was selected as a “Power 100” and “Women Who Mean Business” honoree by the Kansas City Business Journal, one of KC Magazine’s “Influential Women” and was published in the “Ingram’s 250” list. She was also listed among the “Power 50” of KC leaders by 435 Magazine in 2019. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Rockhurst University where she received the Rashford-Lyon Award for Leadership and Ethics in 2020. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Area Development Council, KC Chamber of Commerce, and the Advisory Board for the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. Lisa’s understanding of growing business operations makes her an excellent addition to the Executive Committee of the SMA Board.
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School started the new school year with in-person classes on August 26. Its enrollment has grown to 353 students this semester, drawn from 47 different zip codes. This diverse high school is a 21st-century learning environment rooted in the traditions and values of the Catholic faith. Established in 2017, SMA is rich in initiatives that lead students closer in their relationship with Jesus Christ, while combined with a quality academic experience with a wide range of hands-on, college-preparatory learning.
