Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that 12 of their talented artists entered 16 artworks in the 32nd “Festival of Color” Youth Art Show hosted by the Citizen’s Civic and Cultural Committee in cooperation with Independence Parks, Recreation & Tourism.

The judged art show featured 301 artworks from 233 artists in nine categories from eight Eastern Jackson County high schools. SCA freshman Ruisi (Christine) Xiong was awarded $100 for the Roger T. Sermon, Jr. “Most Promising New Artist Award” out of the 34 first year art students in the overall exhibition. Additionally, Christine received a $30 second place award in the Drawing category out of 74 entries for her ink drawing “Reflective Self Portrait.”

In addition, senior Charlotte Brownlee received fourth place honorable mention in the acrylic/oil painting category out of 36 entries for her painting “Cambodian Dream.”
