Lee’s Summit CARES will present a free webinar designed to help families adapt in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy or significant sources of stress, such as living during a pandemic. Nurturing a Resilient Family will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 20.
Resiliency does not mean you can avoid stress or hardship. By strengthening your resilience, you will be able to deal with excessive life demands while learning how to better cope. When an adverse situation cannot be resolved, resilient people are able to continue living with this challenge more competently and with less pain.
The virtual event is one of a series of valuable sessions offered through the nonprofit coalition’s Positive Parenting Practices program.
The webinar will be presented by Kerri Gray, licensed marriage and family therapist and long-time facilitator for Lee’s Summit CARES popular Love and Logic parenting courses. Pre-registration is required by visiting this webpage. The webinar will also be available at Lee’s Summit CARES YouTube after the session is complete.
The Positive Parenting Practices sessions are approximately one hour. Topics of other recent webinars, available via Lee’s Summit CARES YouTube, include how to effectively talk to young people about underage drinking, “Back to School Success: Setting the Stage for a Great School Year,” “Introduction to Mindfulness,” “A New Normal: Helping Your Family Adapt to Change,” “Motivation,” “Flattening the Stress Curve” and “Creative Parent Responses to ‘I’m Bored’.”
