The Raytown Police Department is inviting citizens to join them on Saturday, October 24th for National Drug Takeback day.
You can stop by the Raytown City Hall parking lot, located at 10000 E. 59 Street, any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to drop off expired, unused, and unwanted pills.
This service is free and anonymous. It helps prevent pill abuse. It also protects the environment by providing an alternative to flushing unwanted medications down the drain.
Items that cannot be accepted are liquids, aerosols, needles or other sharp items.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
