Unity Magazine has received recognition from the publishing industry with an Eddie Award for editorial excellence and an Ozzie Award for design excellence. This is the third year in a row that the magazine has won an Eddie Award and its first year to win an Ozzie Award. The magazine has also been a finalist in the Folio: Awards competition each of the past six years.
“I am elated that Unity Magazine has won its first Ozzie Award,” said Laura Carl, program manager of creative services at Unity World Headquarters. “I am in constant awe of our design team and how hard we push ourselves to create meaningful works of art.”
The Eddie and Ozzie Awards recognize finalists among thousands of entries each year from across the country, recognizing the best of the best across nearly 50 different categories. The awards are sponsored by Folio:, the leading magazine for and about the magazine industry, and are the largest and longest-running publishing industry competition.
The awards are typically announced during an annual gala event in October, but because of the pandemic, this year’s celebration will be a virtual event. All of the 300 winners and honorable mentions were announced on the Folio: website in September.
Unity Magazine swept the Single Article category in the religious/spiritual division for consumer magazines, earning recognition as the winner and both honorable mentions.
“It’s a major professional honor to be recognized in this competition,” said Katy Koontz, Unity Magazine editor in chief. “It means our relatively small magazine stands toe-to-toe with larger-circulation magazines that have deeper pockets and more resources. Keeping that caliber of company says a lot about us, and I’m incredibly proud of our entire team, including our freelance writers.”
Unity Magazineis published bimonthly with insights from spiritual leaders, practical advice for abundant living, and tools for spiritual growth. Both print and digital subscriptions are available at unitymagazine.org.
