Members of three Lee’s Summit wards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have been collecting and delivering winter clothing and blankets for City Union Mission to distribute for several years now. This year, people have been particularly generous.
Beverly Smith of Lee’s Summit said, “The winter coat/clothing drive has been a huge success this season. We have been collecting coats, shoes, socks, blankets, and backpacks galore! We are on our fourth big trip to distribute these so needed things to the homeless and those who are in need.”
In addition to helping City Union Mission, this year church members have collected enough warm things to also donate to two women’s shelters and a similar outreach program at Research Hospital.
If anyone would like to donate, the donations will continue through the end of February. Email Beverly Smith at beverlysmith6@msn.com for drop-off locations.
