Seasons Care Center, located at 15600 Woods Chapel Road in Kansas City, is having a Baby Doll Adoption Event at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9.
The center is collaborating with Angel Embrace, out of St. Louis.
The life-size, soft, cuddly dolls are a personal gift from Angel Embrace and belong to the individual rather than the facility. Each baby is accompanied by a Certificate of Adoption bearing their name and its meaning. Empowering and encouraging names are chosen for each baby, such as Kelsey (brave) or Asher (happy and blessed).
For memory care/Alzheimer patients, holding/caring for a baby doll may:
• Bring emotional comfort
• Produce a calming effect
• Ease loneliness
• Provide purposeful activity
• Reduce anxiety/agitation
• Improve social interactions/communication
Seasons Care Center is a Memory Care Facility that offers skilled nursing/rehab, as well as long term placement. They are nestled in a nice wooded area, near University Health-Lakewood (formerly Truman Lakewood), and have very scenic views, and staff who are knowledgeable in caring for those loved ones with dementia.
