First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce a new Interim Pastor, as Rev. Kate Hogue has recently arrived to help guide our congregation during a transitional time between Teaching Elders.

“Pastor Kate” most recently spent the past five years at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. However, she was born and raised in Joplin, Missouri; and she is thrilled to return her home state.

In her work, Pastor Kate has a passion for hands-on mission and outreach, working collaboratively with congregants, engaging in challenging and meaningful conversations, and making lists to get things organized. She is eager to put these skills to use as we work together to discern where God is calling FPCLS.

After eight wonderful years, Dr. Rev. Michael McCall retired in early 2021, and moved with his wife, Carolyn, back to the Pacific Northwest to spend more time with their grandchildren. As an Interim Pastor, Kate will help First Presbyterian prepare the congregation for their next called pastor. This time includes celebrating where the church has been, evaluating congregational health, making necessary changes, and helping to articulate a church’s unique identity.

This is Rev. Hogue’s first time serving in an Interim Pastor capacity at any congregation, and the members of FPCLS are excited to see what new and challenging ideas she can bring to our church family.

“I am eager to learn more about First Presbyterian Lee’s Summit and help them listen for God’s call. The congregation has a heart for service, and they are looking for new ways to serve the community. This is an exciting time of transition and I trust that you will hear a lot more from First Presbyterian, very soon!”

Kate and her husband, Sean have been married for ten years and are eager to settle into life in Lee’s Summit. They enjoy camping and hiking, as well as discovering new vegetarian restaurants.

First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit is located at 1625 NW O’Brien Rd in Lee’s Summit. FPCLS has been a part of the Lee’s Summit Community since 1857.
