Public Hearing and Ordinance for Valle Vista Shopping Center Renovation
City Council held a public hearing discussing the establishment of the Valle Vista Community Improvement District (CID) to fund renovations to the Valle Vista Shopping Center located at the corner of Missouri 291 Highway and Northeast Chipman Road.

The proposed CID would have a 27-year term and collect a 1% sales tax within the boundaries of the district to help finance interior and exterior renovations to the shopping center. The bank and Andy’s Custard will not be included in the CID. The project is estimated to cost over $14.9 million and the applicant is requesting $3.9 million in CID reimbursable costs (26% of the total project cost). Renovations include roof and parking lot replacement, HVAC, outdoor patio and pergola creation, and building façade improvements. Two separate restaurant locations, each with outdoor seating are planned. Further, one of those two restaurant locations (the former Ted’s), will be shared by two restaurants. The shopping center was last renovated during 2002 -2004.

Following the public hearing, City Council gave initial approval to an ordinance approving the establishment of the Valle Vista Community Improvement District (CID).
