The St. Paul’s Episcopal Church announces the appointment of the Reverend Alisa Carmichael as Organist, beginning February 1.

She has been appointed to the position following an extensive regional search and interview process. “We are absolutely ecstatic to welcome Alisa Carmichael to our music ministry team,” says William Baker, Music Director for the 144-year-old congregation in downtown Lee’s Summit, “She brings all of the skills we need to move our music ministry to a new level of diversity and excellence. She is a committed and proven church leader, with a passion for excellence in worship and exceptional musical skills.”

Prior to coming to St. Paul’s, Reverend Carmichael has served six congregations as Church Organist, most recently the St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church in the Tampa area and Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She holds the Bachelor of Arts in Music and English from Florida State University, one of America’s most prestigious music schools. She holds a Master of Library Media Education from Western Kentucky University. She also has extensive experience accompanying for high school solo and ensemble festivals, school and college ensembles, and juries and recitals for students.

Carmichael’s husband, John Carmichael, PhD, is a former college band director, most recently at the University of South Florida, and before that at Furman University and Western Kentucky University, among many prestigious appointments. He is also choral director at St. Peter and All Angels Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

The congregation will hold a welcome reception for Alisa Carmichael following the 10:00 a.m. Choral Eucharist on Sunday, February 12.
