The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Board of Education approved the employment of a new Director of Athletics and Activities at the June 22 board meeting.

Kirk Hipple was hired to fill the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director role at Lee’s Summit West High School for the 2022-23 school year and began his tenure as Athletic Director for the district on July 1, 2023. As Director, Hipple will oversee the direction of LSR7’s athletics and activities for the secondary level.

Hipple has worked in education for 25 years and began his career as a math teacher in the Grain Valley and Lee’s Summit school districts. In 2006, he became Assistant Principal and Activities Director of Summit Lakes Middle School, where he stayed for 13 years. Hipple then served subsequent roles as district activities directors at the Grandview School District and the Raymore-Peculiar School District before returning to LSR7 in 2022.

Hipple earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Baker University, his Masters of Education in Secondary Administration from Central Missouri State University and his Education Specialist in Secondary Administration from the University of Central Missouri.
