The Lee’s Summit City Council met September 5 to discuss these issues.

Lakewood Pool Parking Lot Expansion
City Council heard a public hearing on a preliminary development plan for a parking lot expansion at the Lakewood pool presented by the Lakewood Property Owners Association. With the reconstruction of the new pool in 2017, demand for parking stalls has exceeded the existing 12 parking stalls. The proposed project would add 31 new parking stalls for a total of 43 for the neighborhood pool and its guests.

Following the public hearing, Council gave initial approval to the parking lot expansion.

Raintree Village CID
A public hearing was held for the establishment of the Raintree Village Community Improvement District or CID, requested by Christie Development Associates, LLC for the area near Arborwalk Park or Ward Road and Missouri 150 Highway. The CID request is for an estimated $3 million or 1% sales tax on the commercial portions of the project over 27 years. The CID revenues will be for public improvements around the Raintree Village development including stormwater management and public transportation.

Following the public hearing, council gave an initial approval to the CID.

The next meeting is September 19.
