The Lee’s Summit City Council met October 10 to discuss these issues.

Fire Prevention Week
Mayor Baird issued a proclamation declaring October 8 – 14 as Fire Prevention Week. During Fire Prevention Week, Lee’s Summit residents are urged to check their kitchens for fire hazards and use safe cooking practices.

Feed Lee’s Summit Month
Mayor Baird issued a proclamation declaring November as Feed Lee’s Summit Month. The purpose of the month is to bring awareness to hunger and encourage the community to help diminish hunger in Lee’s Summit.

Tailormade Landing
Engineering Solutions, LLC presented a preliminary development plan for Tailormade Landing during a public hearing. The 50,000-square-foot fieldhouse proposed at 1600 SE Hamblen Road, will consist of four full-size basketball/volleyball courts, a baseball infield and concessions.

City Council gave initial approval to the preliminary development plan for Tailormade Landing.

Streets of West Pryor
Council held a public hearing on a preliminary development plan for the continued development of Streets of West Pryor, specifically lots 11 and 13. The applicant proposed the development of a dual-tunnel Waterway Carwash on lot 11. The waterway is a full-service high-end carwash with a gas pump island canopy. A 12,000-square-foot multi-tenant restaurant building was proposed on Lot 13. The developer indicated that 30hop, an upscale restaurant featuring American fare and an outdoor patio will be the first tenant in the building.

City Council advanced to the second reading of an ordinance approving the preliminary development plan.

The next meeting is October 17.
