The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Board of Education approved the employment of a new Principal of Longview Farm Elementary at the January 18 board meeting.

Michael Orr is currently the principal of Christa McAuliffe Elementary School in the Shawnee Mission School District and will begin his tenure as Principal in LSR7 on July 23, 2024.

Orr has worked in education for the last 30 years, starting as a teacher in the Blue Valley School District. He taught fourth and fifth grade as well as middle school History.

In 1999, Orr moved to the Shawnee Mission School District where he served as a Guidance Counselor at Shawnee Mission North for seven years. In 2006, he was named Associate Principal at Shawnee Mission Horizons High School and he stepped into his current position as Building Principal in 2012.

Orr earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Kansas State University, his Masters of Science in Counseling Education from Emporia State University and his Master’s of Arts Certificate in School Leadership from Baker University.
