Prairie Chapter, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) held its annual Presidents’ Tea on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024. Vice Regent Sharon Parys and DAR Scholarship Co-Chair Judy Sprouse presented Arianna Nunez, Lee’s Summit R7 the DAR Good Citizens Award and Meredith Cole, Lone Jack High School the DAR Good Citizen and Essay Finalist.

Ben Collins, Lone Jack High School was chosen Prairie Chapter’s 2023-2024 American History Essay Award winner. Ben’s essay entitled “The Stars and Stripes Forever” told of John Philip Sousa and the story behind the song which became the national march of the United States on December 11, 1987. The purpose of the DAR American History Essay Contest is to promote American history throughout the year by honoring significant historical people, places, dates, and events.

The Prairie Chapter NSDAR proudly extends congratulations to each of these deserving Individuals.
