This month, the City of Raytown will host several public meetings to elicit feedback on two large initiatives: 1) updating the comprehensive land use plan and 2) improving the storm sewer systems.

On May 22, at 6:30 p.m., our initial community workshop for updating the comprehensive plan will be held at the Raytown Wellness Center (10301 E 350 Hwy) to engage residents and address the needs and priorities of the community. Residents may also stay engaged by signing up to receive updates or visiting the website, raytownontherise.com.

In March, the Lakota Group was selected to establish a comprehensive land use plan (i.e. 20-year vision) for the City. Over the next 12 months, the Lakota Group will host several community engagement workshops and listening sessions for the community, stakeholders, and City staff. The May 22 workshop is the first of many. The plan was last updated in 1996 and is expected to be completed by Spring 2025.

On May 28 and 29, the second round of public input is requested to determine priorities for improvements and repairs on the City’s stormwater systems. Residents can choose to attend one session: Wednesday, May 28 at 5 p.m., at the Raytown Wellness Center or Thursday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m., at the Mid-Continent Public Library, Raytown branch, 6131 Raytown Road.

“We are making significant progress in several areas that matter most to our community,” said City Administrator Damon Hodges. “Our Mayor, Aldermen, City leadership as well as the more than 100 City employees are dedicated to keeping that momentum going and continuing to deliver results.”
