For a year, Lee’s Summit’s three Rotary Clubs members have been collecting new shoes and socks, for the Annual District 6040 “Shoes Roundup.” According to Past Rotary International Director, Larry Lunsford, this year these shoes are going to orphan children in Guatemala and Peru.

Rotary International District 6040 (includes all of Northern Missouri and Metro Kansas City) is working with Dallas based Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls to transport and then distribute the shoes to Guatemalan and Peru orphanages. In this, the 16th year of the program, it is expected that Rotarians will have collected well over 600,000 pairs of new shoes. Orphans throughout the world and the USA have benefited from this shoes program.

Lee’s Summit Rotary Clubs collecting new shoes, socks, and shoe laces for orphans, include Lee’s Summit Downtown, Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Lee’s Summit Rotary Club.

The Rotary moto is “Doing Good in the World’ and this shoes program is only one of hundreds of human service projects involving Rotarians. Persons interested in joining or just learning more about any of the three local Rotary Clubs, may contact Past District Governor, Dan Hall, at danhall6040@att.net.
