Students from Raytown South High School and Raytown High School participated in the annual Missouri Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Region 14 Students Taking Action with Recognition or (STAR) competition.

The following Raytown South students earned a gold medal and qualified for the state competition in their event: Karla Bautista-Garcia, LaKia Eldridge, and Johnae Wilson, Interior Design; and Kierra Paschal, Fashion Construction.

Raytown South students Jennifer Eneryibe, Cortiana Jackson, and Nia Lewis earned a gold medal in Sports Nutrition and will serve as state alternates.

Raytown High School student Rachel Phelps students earned a gold medal and qualified for the state competition in the Illustrated Talk event.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students enrolled in family and consumer sciences education courses.

The State FCCLA STAR competition will take place March 17-19 at Tan-Tara Resort at Lake of the Ozarks.

The FCCLA sponsors at Raytown South are Kari Playter and Lauren Brentlinger. The FCCLA sponsor at Raytown High is Rochelle Netten.
