Sophie Larsen, 2018 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School, left on June 5, 2019 to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She will be teaching people about Jesus Christ and doing community service in the California Roseville Mission for the next year and a half. Her best friend and first cousin, Evy Tanner, 2018 graduate of Lee’s Summit North High School will leave on July 31, 2019 to serve a similar mission for the church in the Brazil Sao Paulo West Mission. Evy will be speaking Portuguese and has a special responsibility to work helping visitors at the Sao Paulo Temple Visitor’s Center.

Both cousins played violin in their high school orchestras and took solos and ensembles to state for all four years. Sophie worked as a tutor at Kumon all through high school and Evy worked at the Mid-Continent Library. After high school, they both attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where they were roommates. The girls will resume their studies at BYU after they both return from their church service.
