Aug. 10, 2019

I received an email yesterday [August 6, 2019] from a constituent that was rather unhappy with the fact that we now have to register through a 3rd party in order to look up our own tax history.

I wanted to share his email and my response to him just in case you are having the same issue. I hope the link helps you also.

CONSTITUENT:
Did someone decide you haven’t pissed off enough people with assessments, you had to change the whole web site too? Sure, the search on the old site was ‘difficult’, but I didn’t have to deal with some 3rd party to see the historic tax info for my house or anyone else’s. I DON’T WANT TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT WITH A 3rd PARTY to view county real estate info. This is public information, it shouldn’t be under the control of some private company.

MY RESPONSE:
I could not agree with you more. I didn’t want to set up an account nor did I feel my constituents should have to. Unfortunately, the executive did not consult with the Legislature in the decision to change the website. I had to request training for the people that work for the Legislators so we would be able to help our constituents. There is a way to search the information without going through the 3rd party. This is the link https://ascendweb.jacksongov.org/ascend/(04sqoybvev3d34maf2tpbq55)/search.aspx
I apologize for the inconvenience, please let me know if I can help you with anything.
