Aug. 10, 2019

I received an email yesterday [August 6, 2019] from a constituent that was rather unhappy with the fact that we now have to register through a 3rd party in order to look up our own tax history.

I wanted to share his email and my response to him just in case you are having the same issue. I hope the link helps you also.

Did someone decide you haven’t pissed off enough people with assessments, you had to change the whole web site too? Sure, the search on the old site was ‘difficult’, but I didn’t have to deal with some 3rd party to see the historic tax info for my house or anyone else’s. I DON’T WANT TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT WITH A 3rd PARTY to view county real estate info. This is public information, it shouldn’t be under the control of some private company.

I could not agree with you more. I didn’t want to set up an account nor did I feel my constituents should have to. Unfortunately, the executive did not consult with the Legislature in the decision to change the website. I had to request training for the people that work for the Legislators so we would be able to help our constituents. There is a way to search the information without going through the 3rd party. This is the link
I apologize for the inconvenience, please let me know if I can help you with anything.
