Aggravated Assault: Red Bridge and 71 Hwy, CRN: 19-062412

On 08/18/2019 at 1721 hours, officers were dispatched in an attempt to locate a vehicle for Lee’s Summit PD initially believed to be involved in a shooting in their city.  Information obtained from the Lee’s Summit Detective indicated that a victim got out of a vehicle in their city that had been shot.  Based on investigation, officers responded to the area of 74th and Montgall in regard. 

Information was obtained that the victim was in a vehicle near Red Bridge and 71 hwy when an unknown vehicle pulled up next to them and began shooting into their vehicle striking the listed victim.  They then drove to Lee’s Summit and let the victim out of the vehicle in a Target parking lot.  

A crime scene was not located at the scene of the original shooting report on Red Bridge.

The victims condition is not known at this time, and there is no information on suspect(s)

Investigation continues

***UPDATE Aug. 18. 2019 9:18 p.m. ***

Detectives with the Lee’s Summit Police Department have continued their investigation into the shooting victim that was found at the Target store this afternoon.  The investigation has revealed that the victim was actually shot in Kansas City and was transported to the location where he was found by LSPD officers.  Kansas City Missouri Police Department has assumed the case and follow up investigation.

At 1:40 pm officers were dispatched to Target in the 1800 block of NW Chipman Road in regards to a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived they located the male victim lying on the sidewalk in front of the store. Investigation revealed that the male had been pushed out of a vehicle which fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

Detectives are working at this time to question the victim and taking statements from witnesses at the scene to assist in determining where the shooting occurred.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
