The City of Greenwood hired a new chief of police this week. Chief Tommy Wright is a 26-year law enforcement veteran, serving 20 years at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in the St. Louis Metro area and six years as the Chief of Police for the City of Trenton Missouri.

He is a graduate of Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis with both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville (KY), Southern Police Institute’s #134th Administrative Officers Course, and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program.

He has served in a variety of roles to include patrol, Undercover Narcotics, DARE Officer, Chief of Detectives, Task Force Commander, and Chief of the Bureau of Professional Standards, and Team Leader for an Emergency Response Team.

Tommy and his lovely wife Joy, have two adult children and one grand daughter who is seven and spoiled by her grandpa.
