Kansas City area’s young performers have the opportunity to step into the spotlight by auditioning for Got Talent, the metropolitan area’s premier youth talent competition. Auditions will be April 19 in Lee’s Summit, and interested individuals may sign up at LSTalent.com.

Early-bird audition fee is $25 with the fee increasing to $35 after March 15. Performers selected through the audition process will be showcased at the prestigious Got Talent event, scheduled for 7 p.m. June 13 at the Lee’s Summit High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the popular show are $15.

Got Talent is open to young people 18 years old and under. Twenty acts — both individuals and groups — will compete for the top awards as well as three scholarships, valued at $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000.

An annual fundraiser for Lee’s Summit CARES, Got Talent is well-known for its powerful and entertaining performances. A number of previous competition winners have launched successful careers in the entertainment field including Blair Bryant, a member of jazz band MQ5 and a nationally recognized bass player; Jordan Haas, who performed the National Anthem for the Kansas City Royals in 2015; and State Line Drive, an opening act for Tate Stevens in 2016 with a their own CD.

“Got Talent is an exciting event that highlights our area’s young people while also bringing our community together to raise money for a good cause,” said Rachel Segobia, Lee’s Summit CARES director and Got Talent chairperson. “Every year, we hear from our audiences how impressed they are by the caliber of performers selected through our audition process.”

The competition is open to all types of talent and provides a supportive and affirming environment for the young performers, Segobia added, giving them the opportunity to perform on stage in front of an enthusiastic audience.

In its 10th year, Got Talent is the major fundraiser for Lee’s Summit CARES, a nonprofit community coalition that provides programs for youth substance abuse prevention, parenting and character development. The 2019 event raised approximately $15,000 through ticket sales and sponsorships.
