The deceased suspect in this case has been identified as 28 year old Timothy A. Batrez of Lee’s Summit.  The female victim in the case was Batrez’s aunt, her name has not been released.  Her injuries the night of the incident were classified as non-life-threatening, there is no update on her condition.

Lee’s Summit, Mo.— On Wednesday, 4/8/2020 at approximately 4:30 p.m. emergency crews were called to the 100 block of SE Summit Avenue on the report of a shooting. 

When officers arrived on scene they located a female victim who had been shot along with a male subject who was deceased in the front yard of the residence. 

Officers detained a man at the scene who was initially believed to also be involved in the shooting. 

As Detectives processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses new information was uncovered regarding the events leading up to the shooting. 

Detectives are still conducting formal interviews and processing physical evidence, but it is believed that the male subject involved in the disturbance shot the female subject and then took his own life.  The person’s involved in the disturbance were all known to each other and detectives are working to establish the relationships between them. 

The female victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The identity of the deceased person at the scene has not been released at this time. 

Our investigation into the incident is ongoing.
