Good afternoon,

Please see the statement below from me, as spokesperson for the Jackson County Executive’s Office, regarding the Stay-At-Home Order:

“Jackson County’s Stay-At-Home Order remains in effect through May 15. The County Executive has stated from the beginning of this deadly epidemic that his decisions will be made based on data, science and the recommendations of public health officials. That philosophy has not changed.

“Prior to Mayor Lucas’ press conference, the County was not aware that the City of Kansas City was planning to rescind portions of its current stay-at-home order prior to May 15.

County staff are currently reviewing the information released by the Mayor’s Office and plan to speak with public health officials with the City of Kansas City to try and understand what led to the Mayor’s decision to relax his stay-at-home order prior to May 15. Until we have had the opportunity to fully review that information, the County will have no further comment at this time.”
